本授業の目的およびねらい

本授業科目は，専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め，異文化理解を深めて，国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。

AEB、AEI、及びeラーニングによって培った英語の読解力を用いて、さらに高いレベルの、また多様な英文の読解を行うとともに、現代社会における英語圏の文化についての深い教養を養う。文学部学生を対象に開講する。

注意事項

５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。履修取り下げ制度は採用しない。
毎週の授業の予習と復習を十分に行うとともに、関連する英語の論文・記事・エッセイ等の精読および多読に日頃から努めること。

The purpose of this course is to help students improve their foreign language proficiency, understand foreign cultures, and acquire the knowledge required in a globalized society. Utilizing previously acquired reading skills (covered in Academic English Basic, Intermediate, and e-learning), students will read various English texts. They will also deepen their knowledge of contemporary English language and cultures. This course is offered to students in the School of Letters.
There will be plenty of time for students to discuss in pairs/groups and to ask questions in class. The texts may not be long but will be challenging in terms of the language and concepts to raise cultural knowledge, English reading skills, vocabulary and conceptual flexibility. Video will be shown sometimes to deepen understanding of the themes.
I hope students can enjoy gaining knowledge and exploring across cultures through the course, building confidence for the future. Feel free to consult me anytime.
