This course handles micro to macro-level issues of intercultural communication in education, and students deeply learn the intercultural perspective in personal to social context. In the first part, students acquire intercultural insights such as values, identities, and norms. In the second part, students will be able to apply these insights in real-world educational phenomena. |

| | 授業の内容や構成 | | The course consists of both lectures and seminars. During lectures, this course expects students to learn the basic ideas and theories of intercultural communication in education. During seminars, this course expects students to apply these ideas and theories in real social contexts and issues. In both lectures and seminars, active participation with other students in the class is crucial. Group presentation enables students to work in the intercultural context, and the final paper enables them to have scholarly writing ability. Additionally, this course provides additional materials to acquire those independent academic skills. Therefore, this course is suitable for undergraduate students who want to study in intercultural contexts as well as those who will study abroad soon.Topics to be covered:(Tentative)・Intercultural communication: research, epistemology, framework, method, selected theme・Cultural value pattern・Verbal communication, non-verbal communication・Developing an intimate intercultural relationship・Intercultural conflict・Cultural and ethnic identities・Intercultural competence・Cultural globalization・Diversity and inclusion, corporate culture by IKEA・Immigration・Stereotype, prejudice, discrimination・Intercultural contact, culture shock, intercultural adjustment |
