・This course aims at providing a basic framework to understand "international environmental rules" between states that apply to global environmental problems. But beyond international law, the course is designed to understand various "transnational environmental instruments" that address environmental problems.
・To this end, the course will be organized as follows: 1.for the first few weeks, to consider the fundamental institutional design (actors, regulatory tools, implementation methods) to tackle global environmental problems; 2. then, to discuss different examples of global environmental problems; and 3. lastly, to get to know fieldwork skills and methods that can be used when interviewing various actors regarding global environmental issues.

There are no prerequisites.
成績評価の方法と基準
・This course is assessed by two components: (1) class attendance, class discussion participation, and group presentation: 40 % and (2) final online exam (open book): 60%.
・The score above or equal to 60 is a passing grade. If you want to quit the course, you need to withdraw your class registration.
・Participation in class discussions is expected of all students. To receive a passing grade, students must understand the feature of international environmental law and global environmental governance and be able to critically evaluate the ways in which these instruments are operating.
教科書・テキスト
There is no principal textbook that is required to purchase for this class. Reading materials are to be informed during class.
参考書
-Each lecture (VIA ZOOM) is held using PPT slides which will be posted after class meetings.
-Lecture and class discussion/presentation are held in English (VIA ZOOM). However, students can ask questions in Japanese occasionally. ▪ Presentation & Materials : English only ▪ Oral explanations : English only
