This course provides an introduction to security studies in international relations. It helps
participants to grasp some of the major concepts, theories and knowledge in the area of
international security. In so doing, it explores empirical puzzles both in terms of historical and
empirical puzzles. The course covers not only issues linked with national and international
security but also those of human security. During the course the participants will learn
theoretical approaches and debates relating to world politics.
As a result of completing this course, you will gain;
- an in-depth knowledge of the theoretical bases of national, international and human security
- Know the history, evolution, and current aspects of security studies
- Understand and analyze contemporary security challenges
- Be able to identify trends in security studies
- Be able to conduct independent research on the topics of human, national and international
security
