本演習では、環境問題等の社会的諸課題が持つ政治的側面を批判的に考え、研究する力を養うことを目的として、社会科学のリサーチの方法論について学習する。

* 社会科学における主要な手法、リサーチ・デザイン及び認識論的立場に対する基本的な知識
* 環境問題の概要や政治的側面に関する知識、批判的な視座

The aims of this seminar include introducing methodologies and methods in social and political research, and developing a critical perspective on the political aspect of environmental issues.
【Learning Outcomes】
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
* have a basic understanding of key methods, research designs and epistemological positions in social research.
* develop a critical perspective on the political aspect of environmental issues.

| 授業の内容や構成 | | ■秋学期の授業は、基本的に遠隔授業とするが、受講者数次第によっては対面と併用で行う。
受講方法については、別途NUCTにて通知する。
【授業の構成】
大学院レベルの政治・政策研究において必要な、社会科学のリサーチの理論と方法について学習する。
また適宜、受講者個別の関心に合わせたテーマで議論を行う。
主な予定は以下の通りである。

5. Cross-sectional and Longitudinal designs
6. Interviews
7. Ethnography/ Participant observation

【授業時間外学習の指示】
各受講者は、次回の授業内容を予習して、議論できるよう準備をするとともに、リーディングリストに記載されている各回の設問に対する回答を用意すること。

This is a seminar module. Its success and your achievement will depend upon your knowledge of the readings, your readiness to participate in discussion, and the quality of your oral and written work.
* Weekly readings should be done prior to each session.
* Students are expected to contribute to seminar discussions regularly. This requires that you come to seminar prepared to discuss in detail the assigned readings and key questions for each session provided in the reading list. |
