Reading Seminar on Conflict of Laws
Students are expected to make a short presentation for 15-20 minutes with a brief handout, including a short summary of the case, essence of comments and their own reflections. After the presentations, we will discuss them.

This seminar will focus on cross-border legal issues arising out of multinational corporations’ activities. First, it will deal with the most contemporary topic: human rights violations. In particular, the implementation of the U.N. Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights will be analyzed from the conflict-of-laws viewpoint. Then, it will cover other issues such as cross-border transactions and platform business.
The objective of this reading seminar is that participants will understand the conflict-of-laws issues with regard to multinational corporations, by reading and discussing the above-mentioned book and other documents.
