授業の目的 【英語】 | | This course provides the occasion to train the student to obtain the abilities to organize a joint research, to manage it jointly, to pursue assigned research and to conduct a cross-disciplinary joint research. A group of instructors continuously supervise and advise a student group. The instructors provide a big topic such as “sustainable development” (2013), “water management” (2014), “local governance” (2015), “urbanization” (2016) and the student group will decide a more specific research topic such as “Facilitating the Relocation of Mumbai Airport Slum through Deliberative Democracy” (2016). In the Joint Research Workshop II the students will implement a research plan, report on their achievements, and present their results in an international conference/workshop specifically designed after this course. External experts will also be involved in the supervision of students. |

到達目標 【英語】 | | The target of Joint Research Workshop II is the implementation of the endorsed research plan conceived in the Joint Research Workshop I. Participating students will be engaged in a joint research work through literature review and interviews with experts. The student group will make a joint presentation at an international conference organized in February and respond to questions and comments by the invited speakers and the audience. Based upon the conference achievement, the student group will submit a joint research report, and they will also have the opportunity to prepare individual research papers to be published in a suitable law review. |

履修条件・関連する科目 | | Given the peculiar structure of the Joint Research Workshop, only students who already completed Joint Research Workshop I are allowed to take part in this class. A good command of the English language (reading, speaking, and writing) is required. |

教科書・テキスト | | Text: due to the peculiar nature of the seminar, there is no need of a general textbook for students. A Handbook based on previous students’ experience will be distributed at the beginning of the course. |
