Goals of the Course [JPN]
本授業科目は，初年次生を大学教育へ導入し，自立した学習能力を身につけるとともに，文・理に共通した基礎的学力や技能を養うために，多面的な知的トレーニングによって，コモンベーシックとしての読み，書き，話す能力のかん養を図るとともに，真理探究の方法と面白さを学ぶことが目的である。

本セミナーでは「世界を変えた先人の業績に学ぶ」と題し、人類の歴史において世の中が大きく変わった出来事に注目し、その背景を探る。対象分野は限定せず、時間的にも幅広い年代を扱うが、専門の枠にとらわれず、本質的に重要なことは何であるかを考える。

Objectives of the Course [ENG]
In this seminar, entitled "Learn from the achievements of our predecessors who changed the world," we will focus on the events that have changed the world in the history of humankind and explore the background. The target field is not limited, it deals with a wide range of ages in terms of time, and it considers what is essentially important without being bound by a specialized frame.

Message from the Instructor
大学では学年が進むにつれて専門に分かれて行きますが、それぞれの専門を極めていく中でも、専門の枠を超えた客観的な視点を持つことが大事です。それは、広い視点からみて、自分の分野に何が求められているかを考えることにもつながりますし、社会への説明責任という点でも重要です。このセミナーでは、いろいろな興味を持つ人が集まり、それぞれに異なった興味・切り口から話題提供をしてもらいますが、話題を提供する側も、聞く側も、互いの立場を尊重し、相手に伝わるように、建設的に議論を楽しめればと思います。

「先人の業績」と言われてもピンと来ないかもしれませんが、例えば、ニュートンの万有引力の法則や、ダーウィンの進化論など、それぞれの分野だけでなく、人類の世界観（場合によっては宗教観といってもよいかもしれない）にも影響を与えた例はよく知られています。このような自然科学の事例に限らなくてもよいですし、年代的にももっと古かったり新しかったりしてもよいですが、伝説的な話になるのは好ましく無いので、できれば具体的な人物や、その背景がよく判っている方がよいでしょう。


This seminar, entitled "Learn from the achievements of the pioneers who changed the world," will focus on the events that have changed the world in the history of mankind, and explore the background. Although the targeted field is not limited and covers a wide range of eras, consider what is fundamentally important from a broad perspective.
