本授業科目は，初年次生を大学教育へ導入し，自立した学習能力を身につけるとともに，文・理に共通した基礎的学力や技能を養うために，多面的な知的トレーニングによって，コモンベーシックとしての読み，書き，話す能力のかん養を図るとともに，真理探究の方法と面白さを学ぶことが目的である。
本セミナーでは、データ科学駆動型の生命健康科学のトピックを主として、グループごとに科学文献調査や研究計画立案、議論、発表を行う。これらを通じて次世代の医療人としての俯瞰的視座の獲得を目指す。

The purpose of this course is to introduce first-year students to university education, to help them acquire the ability to study independently, to cultivate basic academic skills and skills common to both the humanities and the sciences, to develop the ability to read, write, and speak as common basics through multifaceted intellectual training, and to learn the methods and fascination of truth-seeking. In this seminar, we will mainly focus on the topics of data　driven life and health sciences, and each group will conduct a scientific literature survey, research planning, discussion, and presentation. Through these activities, we aim to acquire a bird's eye view as the next generation of medical professionals.

次世代シークエンサーによるゲノム情報の取得からスマートウォッチによる脈拍情報の取得まで、私たちの多種多様な健康情報を取得できるようになり、データ活用を臨床現場に取り入れることのできる医療従事者や、その技術を開発する研究者が必要とされています。ヘルスケアとデータサイエンスの融合領域はこれから切り拓いてゆく新しい学問領域です。データを活用した未来社会のヘルスケアについて一緒に考え、将来的にデータサイエンス駆動型の新たなヘルスケアを国内から生み出す、その第一歩を踏み出してほしいと願っています。
