Goals of the Course [JPN]
感情は人間の心性の重要な要素であり、個人や社会を動かす力にもなる。感情を理解し説明するために、これまで多くの哲学、心理学における理論が提唱されており、現在でも盛んに論争が行われている。この授業は、そうした感情理論を理解し、それらを論理的に検討することを通じて、人間や社会に対する洞察を深めることを目的とする。またそれを通じて、文系の学問領域に共通する重要な概念、専門用語、考え方を身に付けることも目的とする。

Goals of the Course [ENG]
Emotion is an important factor of human mentality, and has drive to move individuals and the society. Many philosophical and psychological theories have been proposed to understand and explain emotion, and debates have been continued between the theories. The aim of this course is to deepen insights for human and society through understanding the theories of emotion and rational examination of them. Also, this course aims to acquire important concepts, technical terms, and skills to think which are common in areas of humanities.

The aim for achievement in this course is 1) to acquire basic knowledge about philosophical and psychological findings on emotion, and 2) to acquire skills to think rationally and to present contents of the thoughts.

この授業で用いるテキストは、平易な言葉で書かれているが、内容の理解にはある程度の努力を必要とする。担当箇所の発表だけではなく、全体の理解を重視するので、成績評価においては授業への出席と参加の配点が大きい。

Message from the Instructor
The aim of this course is to improve basic ability and skills of reading, thinking, writing, and talking for studying in university. Students will read a book on basic philosophy, present the contents, and discuss about that.


担当教員（大平）は、心理学を専門としており、特に生理心理学や認知神経科学という、人間の精神活動や行動を脳や身体の機能から説明しようとする研究を行っています。ですので担当教員は哲学の専門家ではありません。

しかし、哲学の真の重要性は、人間観や世界観を構成する概念や要因、それらの機能について探求することです。そうした思考の訓練を行っておくことは、どのような分野を専攻するとしても有益であろうと考えます。もちろん、私が専門とする心理学においても、です、現在の心理学は実験を主な方法とし、自然科学的な学問になっています。しかし、単なる知識の集積で終わらないためには、哲学的な問いを意識し続けることは重要です。

そうした意味から、この授業で取り上げるテキストは、担当教員が主な研究テーマとしている感情を、心理学や神経科学の知見にも配慮しつつ、哲学的に論じるもので、示唆に富みます。

この授業は楽に単位が取得できる、というわけにはいかないと思います。しかし一定の努力をしてもらえば、有益な体験ができるのではないかと思います。そのような熱意のある受講者を歓迎します。
