本授業科目は、専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め、異文化理解を深めて、国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。本授業では、リスニングとスピーキングを主としたコミュニケーションの能力を高め、ディスカッションやプレゼンテーションのための基礎力を養成する。

Goals of the Course [ENG]
This course is intended to improve students’ abilities in listening and speaking suitable for academic communication in English. Students will develop basic oral/aural communication skills for academic discussion and presentation.

リスニングとスピーキングを主としたコミュニケーションの能力を高める授業活動を通じて、ディスカッションやプレゼンテーションのための基礎力を身につける。

Objectives of the Course [ENG]
The purpose of this course is to help students improve their foreign language proficiency, understand foreign cultures, and acquire the knowledge required in a globalized society. This course will help students improve their communicative ability and master basic skills for discussion and presentations.

None. The teacher will provide materials to the students using NUCT.

Study Load (Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours)
e-Learning教材の実施状況を成績評価の20％とする。
Prestudy. Students are required to prestudy the theme and prepare for their opinion by writing answers to the discussion questions and doing the assigned reading.
Review. The period of class is limited, review the practice in the course materials outside of the class.
Task. Students must have your own opinion about the discussion questions.

５回以上欠席をした場合、「欠席」の評価がつく。英語検定試験による単位認定を申請する学生以外は、履修取り下げを認めない。

課外学習の説明資料は、アカデミック・イングリッシュ支援室のサイト ( http://elearn.ilas.nagoya-u.ac.jp/access/ ) からダウンロードすること。 The aim of this course is to improve students’ communication ability mainly in terms of listening and speaking. It will help students develop their basic abilities with respect to daily conversation, discussions, and presentations.

In every class you are expected to participate actively in class. Do not be afraid to make errors. It is more important to be communicative and expressive in this class.
