Prestudy. Students are required to the course materials as preparation before each lesson. Students are required to prestudy the theme and prepare for your opinion. Students are required to check technical terms covered in the readings using a dictionary before the class.
Review. Organize your thoughts using your notebook after each lecture. Students need to submit weekly homework at the beginning of each class.
Task. Students must do their assignments such as the Student speeches and Student Report Speeches on one of the 3 class topics outside of the class hours. |

Message from the Instructor | | 課外学習の説明資料は、アカデミック・イングリッシュ支援室のサイト ( http://elearn.ilas.nagoya-u.ac.jp/access/ ) からダウンロードすること。
In this class, students will read about, practice presentations during speeches, and learn to do presentations on serious issues using logically arranged evidence. Students will do one student report speech about one of the class topics. These student report speeches will allow students to explore issues that interest them within the selected class topics. They will improve sentence-level writing and communication (in reading questions discussed in class) and at the paragraph and essay questions in presentations and reports. We will explore the following topics. Culture in English-speaking countries, subcultures, and movie culture. (There may be other topics.) Students will also create a report (the Student Speech) about a subject of their choosing, using at least two English language sources, and present it to class. Students will also improve their listening skills by listening to class lectures, watching English language films, and listening to music with English lyrics. |
