Goals of the Course [JPN] | | | 本授業科目は，人文・社会科学系分野の学問体系を認識するとともに，自主的判断能力を培うことが目的である。セミナーの基本テーマ：心はコンピュータによってシミュレーションできるか考える。人間の心とはなにか、さらには人間の知能や心といったものはコンピュータによってシミュレーション可能であるのかを哲学の立場から考察することを通じて，学問的知識の探求のプロセスとその面白さを体験する。 |

Goals of the Course [ENG] | | | The aim of this class is to provide the students with the philosophical theories concerning the nature of human mind, how we should think about the relationship between mind and body, whether it is possible to simulate the function of human mind by computer or not, if it is possible, whether we can call such a system a new type of mind or not. And through the instruction which will be provided in this class they will experience the joy of philosophical thinking and discussions and be able to think independently and spontaneously. |

Objectives of the Course [JPN] | | | 哲学とは、物事の原因や根拠を提示する学問であり、結果を語る学問ではない。哲学の思想を学ぶとは、表面的な言葉の意味を追究し、自分の持っている世界観や価値観で哲学の知識を判断するのではなく、各々の思想に潜められた、その思想を成り立たせている理由と根拠を学ぶことである。従って、本講義の目標は、多くの哲学者たちの思想を学び、つまり、さまざまな考え方を学ぶことによって、自分の視野を広げることにあり、ただ、表面的な言葉の意味ではなく、その思想の根拠と理由を知ることである。 |

Objectives of the Course [ENG] | | | The purpose of the students who participate in this instruction is to learn the thoughts of western philosophers and to be able to think in various ways and from many different standpoints, and further to widen the range of our own thoughts. It means to know not only the superficial literary meaning of linguistic expressions but also the background knowledge and reason of each philosophical theory. |
