Goals of the Course [ENG] | | | The purpose of this course is to explore the world of the performing arts, regarded as a rich representation of Japanese culture, from a variety of perspectives. Through the content addressed in this class, students will develop a basic knowledge of traditional classical performing arts and acquire a grasp of their historical and cultural relevance. |

Objectives of the Course [JPN] | | | 本授業では、神仏への奉納を起源とする芸能や、法会・儀礼と深く関わる芸能の諸相を、神仏とひとの織りなす表象の文化史として理解する力を養うことを目標とする。 |

Objectives of the Course [ENG] | | | In this course, the main objective is to develop the ability to understand the performing arts, which originated in dedications to the kami and buddhas, and the various aspects of the performing arts, that share a deep connection to the dharma assemblies and rites, as representations of a cultural history that weaves together the kami, buddhas and people. |
