Goals of the Course [JPN] | | | 現代科学を学ぶためには量子力学の基礎を理解する必要がある。この授業では、原子軌道の概念、電子のスピン、軌道の重なりによる化学結合の生成などについての基礎知識を得ることができる。この授業の内容を理解したのちには、皆さんは (1) 周期表の各元素の性質（たとえば原子半径や電気陰性度など）の違いについて電子数／属／周期（最外殻電子配置）に基づいて説明できるようになり、また (2) 原子軌道／分子軌道について説明できるようになることが期待されます。 |

Goals of the Course [ENG] | | | In this course, students will learn the basics of Quantum Mechanics which is necessary for deeper understanding of Modern Chemistry. You are going to learn the concepts of (1) atomic orbital, (2) electron spins, and (3) chemical bonds as the overlap of relevant orbitals. After completing this course, students are expected to be able to explain differences in the characteristics of each atom in the Periodic Table, such as the atomic radius and electronegativitiy, by referring to the difference in the electron configuration and the concept of atomic orbital. |
