By taking this course, students will learn the basic concept of thermodynamics that deals with the relationship between heat and other forms of energy (eg, mechanical work).

Objectives of the Course [JPN]
　本授業科目の受講により、熱と他の形態のエネルギー（たとえば力学的仕事）との関係、特に熱が力学的仕事に変換されるときに物質の巨視的状態にどのような影響を及ぼすかを取り扱う学問である熱力学の基本概念を理解し、数式用いた簡単な応用もできるようにすることが本授業の目標である。

One of the goals of this course is to enable students to do simple calculations using mathematical formulas of thermodynamics.
