授業の目的　【日本語】
Goals of the Course(JPN)

最先端の研究を進めるためには、世界中の科学者が発表した最新の英文の原著論文を読んで理解し、今、何がどこまで明らかになっているのかを知っておく必要がある。この能力を身につけるため、本演習では英語で書かれた教科書，総説などの生物学の文献を読むことに慣れることから始めて、原著論文の精読を行う。論文を読み解くために必要な英語の知識、実験手法、論理展開の仕方は適宜解説する。最終目標は、論文に書かれている内容（本文だけでなく図も）および論理の筋道を把握して、批判的な目で議論できるようになることである。
To advance cutting-edge research, you need to read and understand the latest original papers, which are written in English, published by scientists around the world, and to know what is clear and to what extent. To gain this ability, this course begins with reading biology literature such as textbooks and reviews written in English, and then reviews the original manuscript. The necessary knowledge of English, experimental methods, and logic for reading the manuscripts will be explained. The ultimate goal is to be able to understand the content of the paper (not only the text but also the figures) and the logic of the thesis so that it can be discussed critically.

本授業では、最終的にあ英語文献（教科書、総説および原著論文）を独力で読み解き、論文の内容を理解できる様になることを目標とする。

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan

教員が選定した英語文献（教科書、総説および原著論文）を各自で授業までに熟読しておく。
文献を理解するために必要な英文読解のノウハウ、実験手法などの科学的知識については適宜解説を行う。続いて原著論文の精読に取り組む。まとまったパラグラフを和訳しながら、論文の成り立ち、論理展開、データの解釈等について解説を行う。慣れてきたら、論文の内容について短くまとめて発表し、全員で議論する機会を設ける予定である。

履修条件
Course Prerequisites

英語に関し、基礎的な知識を習得しておくこと。
