The goal of this course is to obtain basic concepts of particle physics.

Course Content / Plan
Several professors in particle physics groups introduce their research topics including basic knowledge of physics. Students submit their reports on quizzes provided by each professor through “Assignments” of NUCT.
Tentative schedule is as follows:

[Nov. 8] Particle Physics and Gravity (Shin'ichi Nojiri)
[Nov. 15] Gravity (Yasusada Nambu)
[Nov. 22] Neutron physics (Hirohiko Shimizu)
[Dec. 6] Precision measurements with neutrons (Masaaki Kitaguchi)
[Dec. 13] Tau & B Physics (Kenji Inami)
[Dec. 20] Higgs Physics at LHC (Yasuyuki Horii)

Grading will be based on attendance and reports.

Criteria for "Fail (F)" & "Absent (W)" grades
Class attendance is required. Absentee must give a valid reason. A student will receive a “Fail” grade if he/she is absent from lecture more than 4 times. Students who submit course withdrawal receive an “Absent(W)” grade.
