Based on the physics learned in the undergraduate course, students will be able to understand the latest studies on the physics of galaxies.

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan

本授業では、研究室メンバーが週に2回、初級および上級のテキスト輪読を担当し、1時間半程度の発表とそれに伴う1時間程度の議論を通じて最先端の研究を批判的に評価する視野を養う。また各メンバーの研究進捗を英語にて報告する。これらの討論には、修士論文のための研究活動として毎週8時間以上の取り組みが必須である。
具体的な内容としては、当該科目を履修する1年生は研究室の主なテーマである「銀河形成」「銀河進化」「星形成」「観測的宇宙論」の基礎理論を学び、自らの研究成果を交えてメンバーに発表する。また、それ以外の回では討論を通じて銀河進化の研究の出発点や研究の仕方を実地で学ぶ。

In this course, participants read introductory and intermediate level texbooks and give a student lecture of 1.5-2 hours. All the participants discuss the presented topics to polish up the ability to have critical reading of articles on astrophysics.
Students are also supposed to report their progress on their research works once per week in English (5-15min for each person). We suppose that students prepare for these work for more than eight hours in a week.
The topics are usually taken from galaxy formation, galaxy evolution, star formation, observational cosmology etc. Students should learn the practical way of studying through the discussions.
