授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This interdisciplinary course subject focuses on the issues concerning gender and development, especially in the context of education in developing countries and emerging economies. As the Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) highlights, achieving gender equality is one of the most important development agenda for both developed and developing countries. This course introduces various key concepts regarding gender and discusses various issues concerning gender inequality. It also reviews policies and practices for closing gender gaps and achieving gender equality. This course covers diverse spheres in which gender gaps are observed and women’s empowerment are needed, such as access to education and skills development, teaching and learning, unconscious bias, gender-based division of labor, access to the labor market, employment, pipeline and career development, participation and leadership development.
Students are expected to have read the required readings before coming to the class. |

成績評価の方法と基準 Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | To complete the course, students must actively participate in classroom discussions, and complete a final paper. Your grades are based on participation in class discussions (10%), individual presentation and a short paper (20%), and a final exam. (70%).
Credit is given of C- or C( where applicable) or higher for each graded criterion |
