統計力学の基礎となるギブス分布がどこから生まれるのかを理解する．統計力学的視点から惑星科学における様々な問題を創造し，ギブス分布により統合する能力を身につける．(DP1)

Background of Gibbs distribution in statistical mechanics. Apply the distribution to various situation in Earth and Planetary Sciences (DP1)

数学における確率分布関数の概念を理解し，統計力学に応用できるようになる．基本的な確率の考え方を進めることにより，理想気体の数多くの性質が説明できるようになる．さらに応用として，水蒸気から水滴が形成されるプロセスを代表例として核形成過程を理解できるようになる．

Objectives of the Course
Understanding probability distribution function, and apply it to statistical mechanics. Many properties of ideal gas can be explained. As an advanced topic, nucleation of water droplets from vapor is discussed.
