Goals of the Course | | | This course helps students deepen their understanding of the basic knowledge of and methodologies for improving sustainability and safety and security in urban and territorial areas in order to acquire the capability to address issues in urban and territorial development including disaster risk reduction and environmental conservation. 授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | 次に示す講義を実施する．
1) 概要
2) 持続性と空間開発
3) 都市と地域開発
4) 日本における国土開発
5) 自然災害と国土開発
6) 災害リスク低減: 地震・津波
7) 災害リスク低減: 台風・ハリケーン・サイクロン
8) 災害リスク低減: 洪水はん濫
9) 気候変動影響
10) 環境汚染
これら講義に加え，受講者は2回のグループワークに出席する必要がある．グループワークは，議論を通じて参加者相互の理解を深めるために行うものであり，その中では与えられたテーマについて２～３名の受講者によりグループ討議を行い，グループとしての意見をまとめる．各グループは，その意見をクラスで発表する．また，受講者の理解度を確認するための小テストを2回実施する． | The course will consist of lectures on the following topics:
1) Introduction
2) Sustainability and spatial development
3) Urban and territorial development
4) Spatial development in Japan
5) Natural disasters and spatial development
6) Disaster risk reduction: earthquakes and tsunamis
7) Disaster risk reduction: tropical cyclones
8) Disaster risk reduction: floods
9) Climate change impact
10) Environmental protection
In addition to the lectures above, students need to take part in two group works for deepening their understanding through discussion and debate with other students. In the group works, a couple of students make discussion of a given theme, and summarize their ideas and proposals for the theme. After summarizing, each group makes a presentation. Quizzes will be also implemented two times to check student’s knowledge and understanding. |

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | | 都市や地域の開発を総合的に議論および提案できる能力を，2回のレポート(50%)，グループワークの成果(30%)，およびクイズ(20%)により総合的に評価する． | | Students will be comprehensively evaluated according to two reports (50%), results of group works (30%), and quizzes (20%). A passing grade is predicated on the capability to synthetically discuss and propose urban and territorial development. |
