授業の目的 【日本語】
Goals of the Course(JPN) | | 【授業の目的】大災害の頻発を背景に、日本でも災害に関する社会学的な調査研究に一定の蓄積がみられる。しかし、理論的な分析や検討は不足しているため、実証的な研究成果の蓄積や共有は進んでいない。こうした反省に立ち、この授業では自然災害をテーマとした代表的な実証的研究成果を読み解き、災害研究の理論的課題について検討する。自然災害、言い換えるなら社会と自然の関係を社会学的に捉えるための観点や法論を習得することがこの授業の目的である。

Goals of the Course | | Objective
With the backdrop of several big disasters in recent years, sociological disaster research in Japan has been quite advanced. However, such empirical findings are not succeeded well because of lack of theoretical consideration. Therefore, this seminar aims to learn theoretical viewpoint to grasp social aspect of natural disaster through reviewing several masterpieces in disaster studies so far.

【授業の構成】テキスト（ Rebuilding Asia Following Natural Disasters）を講読し、災害の地域性や災害研究の理論的論点について討議する。

| Structure of the seminar: Reputable articles concerning disaster studies are picked up. Participants are expected to report and discuss about the articles.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | ・報告、ディスカッションへの貢献、期末レポートによって評価する。
・期末レポートは、災害研究の理論枠組を用いて具体的な災害事例を分析し、防災の課題を論じるものとする。
・ディスカッションへの「貢献」とは、テーマへの理解を深めるような問いや意見を発することを指す。
・報告25%、ディスカッションへの貢献25%、期末レポート50%で点数をつけ、100点満点で60点以上を合格とする。 | - Evaluation is based on presentation(25%), contribution to discussion(25%) and final report(50%). The score above or equal to 60 is required for credits.
- Theme of final report is to discuss challenges of disaster risk reduction based on the theoretical and empirical analysis of particular disaster.
- Contribution to discussion means making useful remarks on the issues. |
