Goals of the Course [JPN]
化学は物質とその変化を扱う学問領域であり，広く理系分野の基礎となります。その対象は，原子から，様々な分子，高分子，固体，液体，さらに生体に存在する物質や地球環境に存在する物質，また，宇宙を形成している物質にまで及びます。私達は，様々な物質に囲まれ，これらを活用して生活を営んでいるので，物質とその振る舞いについての理解は重要です。化学基礎Ⅰ,Ⅱは，通年で連続して受講することにより，原子，分子などの物質の基本的単位がどのように組み立てられるかをはじめとして，様々な物質の構造とそのはたらき，物質へのエネルギーの出入り，化学反応の進み方，さらには生命現象や生活と物質とのかかわりなど，化学の基本的事項と魅力を体系的に学べるよう計画されています。

Goals of the Course [ENG]
Chemistry is a discipline that deals with substances and their changes, and is the basis of a wide range of science fields. The targets range from atoms to various molecules, macromolecules, solids, liquids, substances existing in living organisms and global environment, and also forming the universe. We are surrounded by various substances, so it is important to understand substances and their behavior.
Fundamentals of Chemistry I and II　designed to be taken consecutively throughout the year, include how the basic units of substances such as atoms and molecules are assembled, and also deal with the structures and functions of various substances. It is planned to systematically learn the basics and attractiveness of chemistry, such as the inflow and outflow of energy, the progress of chemical reactions, and the relationship between life phenomena and substances.

量子論の基礎を学んだ後，その概念に基づいて原子構造や元素の周期性，化学結合などを説明できるようになることが目標である。

Through this course, students will be able to explain the atomic structure, the periodicity of the elements, and chemical bonds, based on the concept of quantum theory.

Message from the Instructor
「化学」は暗記モノと思われるかもしれませんが，この講義では，「化学」を網羅的な雑知識ではなく，「量子論」に基づいた統一的な体系として物質（化学）を理解することを目指します。講義ではまだ習っていない数式などが出てくるので，戸惑うかもしれませんが，今の段階ではあまり気にせずに，物理的・化学的意味を捉えることに専念してください。
