授業の目的 【日本語】
Goals of the Course(JPN) | | 言語表現が伝達する内容 (意味) は
(i) 言語表現自体にコード化されており (すなわち字義的であり)，言語使用の文脈に影響される度合いが比較的低いもの
(ii) 言語表現自体にコード化されているが，言語使用の文脈に強く影響されるもの
(iii) 言語表現自体にコード化されておらず，聞き手 (解釈者) の推論によって補完あるいは導出されるもの
に大別できる。
意味論のうち，(ii)・(iii) をあつかう下位分野を「語用論 (Pragmatics)」と呼ぶ。本講義では授業時の解説，文献の講読，およびオープンディスカッションを通じて，語用論における主要な概念を学び，言語的コミュニケーションの仕組みの理解を深めることを目的とする。 |

Goals of the Course | | Meanings conveyed by linguistics expressions can roughly be divided into:
(i) those that are directly coded by linguistic expressions (i.e., literal), and are relatively stable across contexts of use;
(ii) those that are directly coded by linguistics expressions, but are strongly affected by the context;
(iii) those that are not coded by linguistic expressions themselves, but are complemented or derived by the inference of the hearer (interpreter).
The sub-discipline of semantics that deal with (ii) and (iii) is called "pragmatics". The participants of this course will learn the rudiments of pragmatics and deepen their understanding of linguistic communication, through reading the textbook and other related materials as well as participating in class discussions and oral presentations. |

Objectives of the Course(JPN) | | | 「推意」・「前提」・「直示」といった語用論における主要概念について学び，言語表現とそれが使用される文脈（状況）とのあいだの相互作用について，具体例を通じて観察・考察する。(i) 言語表現の使用によって伝達される内容が文脈によって影響される様態，ならびに，(ii) 言語の使用が文脈に影響をおよぼし，後者を変容させる過程についての理解を深める。 |

Course Content / Plan | | 以下の順で語用論における主要な概念を取りあげ，解説する。
1. 語用論とは何か
2. 会話の推意 (conversational implicature)
3. 慣習的推意 (conventional implicature) と前提 (presupposition)
4. 発話行為 (speech acts)
5. 直示 (deixis)と視点 (perspective)
6. 情報構造 (information structure)
7. 照応 (anaphora)
授業に先立って指定された文献を読み，授業時には文献の内容に基づいた討議に参加することが求められる。
また，履修人数等の状況により，受講生に対して語用論に関わる口頭発表を行うことを求める場合がある。 |

ただし，春学期に開講される「意味論講義ａ」の内容を参照することがあるため，あわせて履修することが望ましい。 |

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | | 提出課題の内容を成績評価の70点分に換算する (口頭発表を行う場合はその内容も考慮する)。また，授業時の討議への参加を30点分に換算する。合計60点以上を単位取得の条件とする。 |
