授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | This is the first part of a one-year introductory course for learning and practicing the basics of research methodology used in cultural and historical studies. Students will learn/review best practices for research, from finding a topic and researching academic sources, to writing a proposal and research report. This course is continued in spring 2023 ("Introduction to thesis writing"). JACS UG first year students must register for and complete both. |

授業の内容や構成 Course Content / Plan | | Lectures will be given on basic principles of academic research, including finding and reviewing sources, and developing research questions.
Students will develop their own research project, producing an end-of-term research paper.
A more detailed syllabus will be provided on the first day of class. |
