Goals of the Course | | | Through the understanding of how Japanese culture and language are related to how Japanese communicate with others, the overall purpose of this course is to enhance students' interests in and understanding of the relationship between language and culture, and have them equipped with theoretical skills and practical tools to analyze the meanings of human social actions in relation to culture and society. |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | This course is an introduction to the study of language from a sociocultural perspective, dealing with the use of language in communication as a social activity embedded in cultural contexts. It aims to have students theoretically understand and analyze verbal and non-verbal communication in various cultural contexts to become competent and conscious intercultural communicators.

− Address terms and kinship terms
6-12. Language and body in communication
