授業の目的 【日本語】
Goals of the Course(JPN)
本講義は、短期または長期の海外留学を希望する学生等を対象に、法律および政治学を英語で理解するための基礎的能力を身につけることを目的とし、留学前準備講座として位置付ける。その題材として、ASEANをはじめとするアジア諸国に焦点をあてる。ただし、留学予定のない場合でも、英語の能力向上やアジアに関心のある学生の履修を歓迎する。

Goals of the Course
The primary goal of this course is to enable students who are interested in the short or long-term overseas study with English skills necessary for understanding law and political science. This course is designed as a pre-training for studying abroad. As a subject, we will focus on Asia, especially on ASEAN member-states. Students who do not plan to study abroad, but are interested in improving English skills and knowlege about Asia are also welcome to take courses.

Objectives of the Course
This course will enable students to understand the basic technical terms in the area of law and political science, and acquire the ability to make presentations in English on topics related to comparative law and politics.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
This course involves a discussion on current global and transnational challenges such as; environment, healthcare, demographics, and migration. In addition, this course will focus on Asian populism and, specific Asian development tendencies which vary greatly from liberal concepts of Western legal culture.
Participating students will focus on up-to-date information about law and politics in various Asian countries, share and learn from each other as well as master their skills to think critically by actively participating in the course discussions.
This course will mainly utilize the 'active learning' format based on focus-oriented, vibrant discussion with all students. Many sessions will involve elements of concise reports and presentations, where each student will have an opportunity to exchange information on specific topics and reflect their personal analytical or critical views on the similarities or differences across jurisdictions in Asia.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
The instructor will carefully evaluate each student based on the attendance rate and active participation, reflecting an adequate knowledge level (50%). The rest will include individual/group presentation (30%), and a final written report on any topic of the course (20%).
