Goals of the Course
This course offers an enjoyable excursion to economics which can invite a student to the world of economic theory. Economics, especially microeconomics, is often seemed to provide an ex-post explanation for many economic outcomes, but economic theory can perform ex-ante analysis on wide-ranges of human behavior. This is exactly what the economic theory is. There is no royal road to learn economics. A student has to see trees (has to keep attending lectures and submitting review questions) for a while, but can successfully be able to observe a forest (whole structure of the economic theory) in due course. Needless to say, how much knowledge I can convey to students is significantly depending on the degree of effort of each student can spare for given limited teaching ability of the instructor.
