The purpose of this course is to extend students’ vocabulary and to get basic knowledge of Japanese society. In the class, students are encouraged to participate in the learning cooperatively .

Course Content / Plan
Every week, the students are assigned to read the news articles which the lecturer picked up. Students will have the opportunity to read articles from Japanese newspapers and to discuss the issues in them.

the usual class is designed as a blow.
-introduction of the class
-reading news article individually.
-peer reading
-promoting explanation activity
-round up the class.

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
Your final grade will be calculated according to the following process:
- Contribution to class discussions (30%)
- assignment (40%)
- Final examination (30%)
To pass,
-students must participate and actively express what they have understanded in the class and their thoughts on the topics.
- students must show their understanding and critical opinions on the oral examinations and the assignments.

Notice for Students
This course will be taught in Japanese. This syllabus is temporary. It may be altered due to the students’ Japanese proficiency level. They are required to prepare and review each lesson. In addition to the assignments the lecturer gives, they are expected to carry out work on their own.
※Students are expected to attend every class. If the student was absent for more than 5 lectures, he/she will be considered as “absent”.
※Being late three times is counted as one absence.
