Goals of the Course(JPN)
Goals of the Course
In nuclear medicine, treatment and diagnosis of diseases are performed by means of administering radio isotopes (RI). Nuclear medicine is one of the major fields of radiology and it supplies important tools for analyzing the functions and metabolism of organs. In particular, the facilities which are supplied with single-photon emission tomography (SPECT), positron emission tomography (PET) are increasing, and there is a remarkable improvement in imaging technologies using SPECT and PET.
Besides therapy with I-131 for Graves’ disease and thyroid tumor which have longer than 70 years’ history, therapy by Ra-223 for bone metastases of castration resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients have been frequently performed.
Students learn not only the basics of nuclear medicine and techniques to acquire clinical data useful for diagnosis, but also the basic knowledges to respond the recent advances in nuclear medicine. In addition, students can acquire the knowledges required for the national examination by studying the real clinical cases.
