認知言語学の基本概念を理解し、言語分析に応用できるようになる。(The aim of this course is to understand the basic concepts of cognitive linguistics and to apply them to linguistic analysis.)
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
各回、一つのテーマについて概要を把握し、その上で具体例について議論する。(Every class will start with an introduction to one concept/issue in cognitive linguistics, which will be followed by a discussion on further examples.)

扱うテーマ例は以下の通り (Topics to be covered include the following):
I. 認知的意味観 (cognitive view of linguistic meaning)
- フレーム (frames)
- 虚構 (fictivity)
- プロトタイプ (prototype)

II. 言語知識のネットワーク (networks of linguistic knowledge)
- 意味の単位 (sense units)
- 伝統的レトリック論 (traditional view of polysemy)
- 多義性の理論的考察 (theoretical view of polysemy)
- 統語構文 (syntactic constructions)
- 形態構文 (morphological constructions)

III. 通言語比較 (crosslinguistic comparison)
- 言語と認知 (language and cognition)
- 枠付け類型論 (framing typology)
- 類像性 (iconicity)

受講生は毎回、インフォーマルな授業内ディスカッションに積極的に参加することが求められる。(Students are expected to participate actively in informal discussions every week.)
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
宿題の解答/授業への貢献 (assignments + active participation) (20%)、期末試験 (take-home exam) (80%); 60点以上を合格とする (A score of 60 or more will be considered acceptable.)
