This course introduces students to different humanities disciplines, typical research methods, and research skills in humanities. It helps students understand how humanities research is conducted, how to read critically, establish a convincing argument, and communicate their research to the public.

Course Content / Plan
Students will be invited to provide a critical review of a research article relevant to their research. Students are expected to participate in group discussions and in-class activities.

Course outline
W1. Introduction
W2 Research in Humanities vs. research in science, what is the difference?
W3-W4 Why is literature review essential? How to conduct critical reading?
W5 How to establish a convincing argument?
W6 How to conduct empirical research?
W7 Why communicating your research with others is essential? What is public engagement?
W8 Final presentation and feedback
