Goals of the Course
Both the instructor and the participants are contributors to a project of comparative law. Through this comparative law collaboration, the course provides an occasion to achieve a real sense of how East Asian countries run their societies.

Objectives of the Course
There are four objectives of the course:

1. to learn the skill to identify the weakness of current legal practice;
2. to learn how to discover a leading idea of reform through comparative researches;
3. to enhance the skill to draw up a plan of reform project; and
4. to develop a skill of professional collaboration for law reform.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
This is not a lecture course. It is a workshop where the instructor and participants work together to develop a law reform project. When the class talks about an issue of Japan, other participants would work as international professionals to help a law reform project.

Class 1. Introduction
Class 2. How to find the need for law reform. (Topic A: Case of Japan)
Class 3. How to find the need for law reform. (Topic A: Case of countries of participants)
Class 4. Discussion on leading ideas for reform
Class 5. Comparative law research on Topic B (Japan)
Class 6. Comparative law research on Topic B (countries of participants)
Class 7. Analysis of research results (Topic B)
Class 8. Analysis of the state-governance system for law reform (Japan)
Class 9. Analysis of the state-governance system for law reform (countries of participants)
Class 10. Law reform strategy (stakeholders analysis, Japan)
Class 11. Law reform strategy (stakeholders analysis, countries of participants)
Class 12. Collaboration discussion for law reform
Class 13. Law reform proposal (project proposal, Japan)
Class 14. Law reform proposal (project proposal, countries of participants)
Class 15. Collaboration discussion to polish proposals
履修条件・関連する科目
Course Prerequisites and Related Courses
None. Participants can use the materials developed by "Research of East Asian Law IA."
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
30%: presentation and participation in the class, 30%: materials prepared by the student, and 40%: a short paper on a selected topic by each student.
教科書・テキスト
Textbook
There is a workshop to find relevant research materials and sources. Participants develop a bibliography on the topic of law reform.
参考書
Reference Book
The instructor will provide legal research training for participants to find relevant references online. The training includes database research, using Nagoya Univ. library resources.

Study Load(Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours)
Research on one's own jurisdiction and development of PowerPoint presentations are expected.

The courses are held as hybrid classes employing both face-to-face and remote teaching methods basically. If a course will be held by remote teaching methods only, please follow the instructor's directions. List of lecture rooms for face-to-face methods will be posted in the "News" of the homepage of the Graduate School of Law.

遠隔授業(オンデマンド型)で行う場合の追加措置
Additional measures for remote class (on-demand class)
遠隔授業は基本的にはNUCTで行う。教員への質問方法、学生同士の意見交換の方法は次のとおりとする。なお、教員より別の指示がある場合は、その指示に従うこと。
・教員への質問は、NUCT機能「メッセージ」により行うこと。
・授業に関する受講学生間の意見交換は、NUCT機能「メッセージ」により行うこと。
(※担当教員が「フォーラム」機能を追加設定した場合は「フォーラム」も利用可。)
Remote classes are conducted via NUCT basically. Questions to instructors should be asked using the NUCT "Message" function.
Student discussions will be conducted using the NUCT "Message" function. (If the instructor has added the "Forum" function, the "Forum" can also be used.)
Follow your instructor's directions if your instructor has any other directions.
