自然科学に対する幅広い知識を得ることを目的として、生命科学分野における専門基礎知識としての「行動・生態学」の知識、および当該研究分野における考え方の基礎を習得する。題材として、昆虫の色覚の仕組みを取り上げる。

Goals of the Course

This course is offered in line with the Graduate School of Science's diploma policy of acquiring broad knowledge of the natural sciences. To acquire knowledge of "behavior and ecology" as basic knowledge in the field of life science, and the basic way of thinking in this research field. As a subject, we will discuss the mechanism of color vision in insects.

Objectives of the Course

The goal of this class for the students is to have the following knowledge and abilities at the end of the class.

1. Mechanism of color vision in animals
2. Mechanism of wavelength information processing in the color vision system

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan

色覚は多くの動物に共有されている感覚である。中でもチョウ類は、ヒトをも凌ぐするどい色覚をもっている。チョウはどんな世界を見ているのか、そもそも本当に色が見えているのか、複眼や脳にはどのような特徴があるのか。こうした問いをひとつひとつ設定しながら進めてきた研究を紹介する。講義の導入として、動物の視細胞が光情報を神経情報に変換するしくみと、色覚の原理を解説する。

１．視細胞における光情報変換　（脊椎動物と昆虫を例に）
２．色覚と視物質　（色覚の原理、視物質の進化）
３．視覚の多様性　（複眼で見た世界の概観／視力、運動視、形態視、色覚）
４．チョウ類複眼の細胞構成　（アゲハ個眼の構成、他種チョウ類との比較）
５．チョウに色は見えるか？　（色覚、色恒常性、明度対比、空間分解能、偏光視など）
６．チョウはお尻で何を見る？　（研究例の紹介）
７．アゲハ色覚系における波長情報処理のメカニズム
