Goals of the Course

This lecture is to understand the response of crop plants to environmental issues at the cellular, individual and community levels. At the end of the course, students are expected to understand and explain the following: Effect of water and salinity stresses on the crop productivity and the adaptation strategy, Interactive effect of genotype, environment and management, Experimental design, Relationship between structure and function in plants, Revolution and adaptation to environment, Physiological and morphological mechanisms of plant adaptation to environmental stresses

　本講義では、作物の示す様々な環境ストレス応答について細胞レベルから個体、および群落レベルまで講義する。環境と作物の相互作用を理解するために、作物ストレス研究の基礎理論と研究の進め方の基本、水ストレスや塩ストレスによる作物生産への影響と適応戦略、遺伝子型×環境×栽培管理の相互作用、植物における構造と機能の結びつき、進化と環境適応、環境ストレスに対する植物の生理学的および形態学的適応反応について学ぶ。

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria

　出席、発表、討議への参加状況、レポートを総合的に評価する。
　作物の環境ストレス応答や環境ストレスによる作物生産への影響について基本的な概念や用語を正しく理解し、適切に説明できることを合格の基準とする。

Attendance, presentations, participation in discussions, and reports will be evaluated comprehensively.
Successful completion of the course is based on a correct understanding of the basic concepts and terminology of environmental stress responses of crops and the effects of environmental stresses on crop production, and the ability to explain them appropriately.
