Objectives of the Course
Upon completion of the course, M1 students should be able to understand the fundamental skills necessary for developing a research proposal, implementing research, and writing a research paper.
授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan
In the first semester, M1 students will learn how to search and collect academic literature related to educational development and then read the basic literature on international educational development and cooperation. Students will choose a specific topic based on their research interests and prepare a paper of previous literature review work. Peer review work sessions will be applied among the students to review the literature review paper. Students will deepen their understanding of the topic through the interactive group discussion on their selected topics.

Academic research has each objective to clarify, and it is necessary to take an appropriate approach to pursue the question for clarifying the research objective. Therefore, students will be expected to learn various research methods for each research objective. Examples of a quantitative method, a qualitative method, and a mixed-method are demonstrated in the class. Students will choose a research method based on understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each analysis. At the end of the first semester, M1 students are required to prepare a research proposal and submit it as an output of the course.

In the second semester, students are expected to present their research and study plan. Students will regularly report the progress of their master's thesis research projects and receive feedback and guidance from the instructor. Along with each research project, students will also work in groups to review and analyze specific topics assigned by the instructor.
