Goals of the Course | | | This seminar is directed at first-year Master's students, research students and first-year doctoral students who did not graduate from the GSID Master's programme (participation is optional for doctoral students). Activities and discussions are designed to impart the basic academic skills and knowledge needed to prepare a research proposal and begin data gathering for a thesis or dissertation. |

Course Content / Plan | | | The specific week-to-week seminar content depends on the number of participants. As a general rule, the first half of the semester is directed at developing academic skills, while the last several weeks of semester are dedicated to progress report presentations. |

Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | Evaluation is based on active participation in the seminar sessions and the research progress report.
