In the first few weeks, students will first learn about what a good master's dissertations should look like. After that, students will start working on their own research project independently upon consultation with the course instructor. Students are expected to do a presentation approximately once a month (three to four times per term) where they report on their progress with their master’s dissertation. In order to prepare for this monthly presentation, they should 1) upon consultation with their supervisor, read either one academic book or 7–8 journal articles on relevant theories, methods, or cases etc per month; 2) write a book review or summarize the findings from journal articles they have read in the form of a literature review (approximately 1000 words); and 3) prepare a one-page document about their preliminary thoughts on the way forward for their dissertation (approximately 500 words).
