Objectives of the Course
Students will develop basic understanding of international political issues and how they influence international cooperation and development. We will explore how political ideology and belief influence policy decisions and international engagement. Students will be asked to make a major research presentation on one of the major international political themes discussed and critically analyze readings.

Course Prerequisites and Related Courses
A basic knowledge of political science and international relations is not required but helpful.
成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria
Evaluation will be based on active participation in class discussions and activities, a presentation based on one of the major course themes by each student, and two short comment papers based on the readings (25/35/20/20). A cumulative score of 60 is needed to pass.

Textbook/Reference Book
Readings will be supplied by the course instructor. The main text used will be Frieden, Lake and Schultz, World
Politics, fifth edition.

In principle, lecture and seminar course subjects are offered in-person.
Online participation in classes (interactive communication classes via Teams, Zoom, etc.) may be permitted by the instructor under exceptional circumstances.
*Guidance will be posted on NUCT if there are any changes in the class format, etc. after registration.
