Goals of the Course(JPN) | | | 自然災害は、かつては「自然の現象」と考えられてきたが、近年は「社会の問題」として捉えられるようになっている。それゆえ、自然災害の研究には、自然現象としてのハザードや具体的な防災・減災活動のみならず、その背後にある社会の構造や、災害前後の長期間にわたるその変化に関する理解が不可欠である。この授業では、こうした災害の社会的な側面について人文社会科学の観点から総合的に講究し、分野横断的観点から安全・安心学にアプローチする方法論を獲得する。（DP3、DP5） |

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | この授業では、災害はなぜ起こり、どのように被害が発生するのか、人々は災害にどのように立ち向かい、どのように立ち直るのか、その後被災地や被災者は災害に強くなるのかといった、自然災害をめぐる古典的な問いを、社会学・心理学・地理学の観点から考えていく。
最初に、災害と社会の問題を捉えるための基本的な概念を説明し、その後、社会学（室井研二）、心理学（木村玲欧、非常勤講師）、地理学（高橋誠）を専門にする3名の講師がそれぞれ4コマずつ担当し、斯学分野のアプローチについて講究する。東日本大震災、阪神・淡路大震災、伊勢湾台風のほか、スマトラ地震や四川大地震などを事例として取り上げる。最後に受講生も参加して総合討論を行い、受講生自身が専攻する学問分野と人文社会科学との比較を通して、新しい防災の考え方について議論する。また、その他の講師をゲストとして招聘することによって、特別講義を開催することも検討している。
講義内容、スケジュール、参考書等の詳細は、初回授業時に説明する。なお、授業に関する連絡、講義資料の配布、レポートの提出にはNUCTを用いる予定である。 | First the basic concepts and theories of the matters of disaster and society are explained followed by discussions of the main topics as follows, in turn from the perspectives of sociology, psychology and geography: why a disaster occurs, how it affects human lives and built environments, how the affected communities are recovered, and how their vulnerability is reduced or capacity for DRR is enhanced. Case studies are about the disasters of the 2011 Tohoku and the 1995 Kobe Earthquakes and the 1959 Typhoon Vera as well as the recent mega-earthquakes in Asia including the 2004 Sumatra and the 2008 Sichuan Earthquakes. The course ends with a debate about new paradigms for DRR that students propose themselves.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | | 上記の分野別3レポートと学期末のまとめのレポート、ならびに総合討論への参加状況とによって、到達目標に関する達成度を評価する。レポートについては、授業と時間外学習をとおして得られた知識に基づいて論理的に考察し論述できることを評価の基準とする。 | | Based on the essays that students submit and the presentation at the final debate, with level of understandings and performances of the basic knowledge as criteria. |
