授業の目的 【日本語】
Goals of the Course(JPN) | | 【授業の目的】大災害の頻発を背景に、日本でも災害に関する社会学的な調査研究に一定の蓄積がみられる。しかし、理論的な分析や国際比較の観点が不十分であるため、研究成果の蓄積や共有は進んでいない。こうした反省に立ち、この授業では海外の災害研究の代表的な文献を読み、災害及び災害研究の国際比較や理論的課題について検討する。防災の観点だけでなく、災害に着目した観点から社会と自然の関係に関する理解を深めることがこの授業の目的である。

Goals of the Course | | Objective
With the backdrop of continual big disasters in recent years, sociological disaster research in Japan has been quite advanced. However, such empirical findings are not succeeded well because of lack of theoretical consideration and international comparison. This seminar thus aims to learn theoretical and comparative viewpoints to grasp social aspect of natural disaster through reviewing several masterpieces in disaster studies so far.

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan | | おそらくオンラインでの授業になる。初回の授業時に今後の授業の進め方について相談したい。
【授業の構成】テキスト（The Sociology of Katrina）を講読し、災害の地域性や災害研究の理論的論点について討議する。

3 Damages and vulnerability
4 Reaction and recovery
5 Post-disaster social social changes
【授業時間外学習の指示】授業開始時までに所定の論文を必ず熟読し、論点を整理しておくこと
| Structure of the seminar: Reputable articles concerning disaster studies are picked up. Participants are expected to report and discuss about the articles.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria | | ・報告、ディスカッションへの貢献、期末レポートによって評価する。
・期末レポートは、災害研究の理論枠組を用いて具体的な災害事例を分析し、防災の課題を論じるものとする。
・ディスカッションへの「貢献」とは、テーマへの理解を深めるような問いや意見を発することを指す。
・報告25%、ディスカッションへの貢献25%、期末レポート50%で点数をつけ、100点満点で60点以上を合格とする。 | - Evaluation is based on presentation(25%), contribution to discussion(25%) and final report(50%). The score above or equal to 60 is required for credits.
- Theme of final report is to discuss challenges of disaster risk reduction based on the theoretical and empirical analysis of particular disaster.
- Contribution to discussion means making useful remarks on the issues. |
