The aim of this course is to help students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed to solve global issues from the viewpoint of geology and acquire the ability to create new academic fields for the next generation.

This course is to help students acquire the abilities to understand the problem and significance of the scientific papers in relation to your research, when you read some papers.

授業の内容や構成
Course Content / Plan

本セミナーは，博士前期課程１年生を対象に行い，地質学，岩石学，古生物学などの博士研究に関係深い分野の論文の内容について，簡潔にまとめ，発表する．発表のために，時間外に論文を数編読み，プレゼンテーションの準備を行う．また履修者は本セミナーで実施される研究倫理教育ガイダンスの受講を必須とする．

This seminar is for first year master students. Each member is asked to study significant geological publications and present the results to other members of the group. In doing so the student is expected to develop a deeper understanding of the field. The main aim is to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to accurately grasp the meaning of specialised publications and to present the results in a clear and concise manner.
Students are expected to read scientific papers in fields related to their own research such as geology, petrology and paleontology out of this class and to prepare own presentation.
All participants are required to attend the Guidance session on research ethics conducted as part of this seminar.

成績評価の方法と基準
Course Evaluation Method and Criteria

出席回数と各人の発表における理解度，まとめ方，発表の方法などに基づいて評価する．総点60%以上を合格とする.
論文の内容をわかりやすくまとめて発表することを最低限の合格基準とする．
