本演習では、環境問題等の社会的諸課題が持つ政治的側面を批判的に考え、研究する力を養うことを目的として、社会科学のリサーチの方法論について学習する。

* have a basic understanding of key methods, research designs and epistemological positions in social research.
* develop a critical perspective on the political aspect of environmental issues.

Course Content / Plan
【授業の構成】
大学院レベルの政治・政策研究において必要な、社会科学のリサーチの理論と方法について学習する。
また適宜、受講者個別の関心に合わせたテーマで議論を行う。
主な予定は以下の通りである。

4. Experimental design
5. Cross-sectional and Longitudinal designs

6. Interviews
7. Ethnography/ Participant observation
8. Questionnaire survey

【Preparation/Review】
This is a seminar module. Its success and your achievement will depend upon your knowledge of the readings, your readiness to participate in discussion, and the quality of your oral and written work.


* Weekly readings should be done prior to each session.
* Students are expected to contribute to seminar discussions regularly. This requires that you come to seminar prepared to discuss in detail the assigned readings and key questions for each session provided in the reading list.
