環境問題は政治的な問題である。その解決にはまず、複雑な利害関係を考慮に入れて、意思決定（政策立案・決定）を適切に行うことが求められる。
また、そのためには「科学的知見」が持つ政治性を、批判的に理解することも重要である。
本演習は、こうした環境問題の政治的側面を研究する上で必須の、基礎的な素養を身に付けることを目的する。

環境運動史を通じて、環境問題の概要とその政治的・社会的特徴を把握し、環境政治を理解するための基礎的な素養を養う。
主な予定は以下の通りである。

また履修者は本セミナーで実施される研究倫理教育ガイダンスの受講を必須とする。 | 【Contents】
This is a seminar in environmental politics.
Environmental problems are as political as they are scientific, economic, and aesthetic. For example, they present serious choices in decision-making, not only about what is to be done, but also about how it gets done. This may be rephrased as a question of whether democracy is compatible with environmental conservation. In addition, scientific knowledge, which environmental decision-making relies on, is not free from political influence.
In this seminar, students will study the history of the environmental movement in order to familiarise themselves with environmental issues at large, as well as various actors/institutions/ideas involved in environmental politics.
The basic schedule is as follows, covering approximately one topic per week.
