本授業科目は、専門的学習のツールとして外国語の能力を高め、異文化理解を深めて、国際社会に相応しい教養を育むことが目的である。本授業では、より高度かつ多様な英文読解を行い、英語文化についての深い教養を身につける。

Goals of the Course [ENG]
This course is intended to cultivate students’ understanding of the English language and/or English-based cultures in the modern world. Building on the skills aquired in the basic-level through advanced-level courses, students will further their reading skills in academic English.

AEB、AEI、及びeラーニングによって培った英語の読解力を用いて、さらに高いレベルの、また多様な英文の読解を通じて、現代社会における英語文化についての深い教養を養う。

Students will be able to read and understand diverse texts in English from across cultures, and be able to undertake their own research in English.

課外学修等
Study Load (Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours)
Students will undertake their own research, primarily in English, and write research reports based on that. There will also be some reading exercises given as homework through TACT（旧NUCT）.

文学部学生を対象に開講する。５回以上欠席をした場合、「Ｗ」の評価がつく。履修取り下げは認めない。

Message from the Instructor
There will be plenty of time for students to discuss in pairs/groups and to ask questions in class. The reading texts will not be long but will be challenging in terms of the language and concepts to raise cultural knowledge, English reading skills, vocabulary and flexibility in thinking. Video will be shown sometimes to deepen understanding of the themes.

I hope students can enjoy gaining knowledge and exploring across cultures through the course, building confidence and motivation for the future.
