Goals of the Course [ENG] | | 【Standardized across all programs】
Life sciences have made rapid progress over the past few decades, and have become an interdisciplinary field that overlaps with a wide range of natural science fields, including physics and chemistry, beyond the boundaries of traditional academic disciplines. Furthermore, with the development of various biotechnologies, life sciences have become a discipline that is closely related to society, as symbolized by genetically engineered animals and plants, and regenerative medicine. In this course, students will learn the current status of life science in order to deepen their understanding of the significance of life science. |

Objectives of the Course [ENG] | | Students are expected to be able to understand the generalities of biology.
Through cases that students/ mentor search, they will learn the importance of biology and its use for diagnose/ treat different type of diseases. |

Only for first part of the course; later will change according to the cases that are picked to discuss. |

課外学修等
Study Load (Self-directed Learning Outside Course Hours) | | Pre-study: if presenting a case, about 90 minutes before class.
During class: 90 minutes sessions. Sometimes quiz will be done during class. Participation will be important.
After: Will be important to review after class, about 30~60 mins per session. |

Courses taught by Instructors with practical experience | | | Second part of the course: normal physiology, cancer generalities/ treatment and discussion of cases are based on practical experience of working as medical doctor in Mexico as well as working as researcher in Japan in the development of new cancer treatments. |
