Goals of the Course [JPN] | | | 人間が創造してきた文化を表現する媒体の中心となるのは，文字や音声によって実現される言語です。歴史的資料や思想・文学作品がその代表であるが，しかし文化の表現手段は言語に限られるわけではありません。絵画や彫刻などの図像，あるいは舞踊や儀礼などの視覚的媒体を使用する表現形態もあります。この科目では，多様な媒体を通して実現される文化的創造を全体として「記号」としてとらえ，そこに見られる構造の一般性を解説します。 |

授業の目的 【英語】
Goals of the Course [ENG] | | | The central medium for expressing the culture that humans have created is language, which is realized through writing and speech. While its representative examples are historical documents, thought and literary works, the means of cultural expression is not limited to language. There are also forms of expression that use visual media, such as painting and sculpture, and dance and rituals. In this course, we will regard cultural creation realized through various media holistically as “symbols,” and explain the generality of the structures that are found in them. |
