Goals of the Course [JPN]
科学や技術がどういうものであるのかを深く理解し，その健全な発展の道筋を考えるためには，現在の科学技術の姿だけでなく，それらがいかなる社会的背景のもとでどのような経緯で成立してきたのかを知ることが重要な手がかりとなります。この科目では，そうした歴史的視点から，どのようにして近代科学技術が成立したのか，また，それらの成立後に，どのような発展があったのかといったトピックを概観します。

Goals of the Course [ENG]
In order to obtain a deep understanding of what science and technology are and envisage the way of sound future development of them, we need to know not only what they are now but also how they have developed and what were the social background of their development. In this course, we will make a survey of how modern science and technology were born and how they have grown since then.
