授業の目的 【英語】 Goals of the Course | | A unique example of cooperation between countries, the European Union is often referred to as a succesfull model of integration. This course has the purpose to present the legal infrastructure of the European Union and its functioning. Starting with a historical overview of the EU, the course will describe the key institutions of the Union (the Commission, the Parliament, the Council, etc.), as well as the founding principles on which EU law is based: particularly, the so-called "four freedoms". Drawing also from judgments issued by Court of Justice of the EU, the course will demonstrate how the abstract principles on which the Union is based work in practice. The course will finish with a look at the current issues and criticalities, and the way ahead for the Union in the post-Brexit era. |

到達目標 【英語】 Objectives of the Course | | After attending this course, students will have a clear picture of the legal functioning the EU. A highly complex stucture, the Union is often criticized for the complexity of its internal relationships - both between the EU and the Member countries and among EU institutions themselves. The course will explain in detail how those relationships are regulated. Also, students will be presented with a comprehensive overview on how the legal principles of the Union have a direct effect on individual rights in the EU. |
